Traditionally, reindeer meat is air-dried by hanging, but we’ve put our own twist on it: oven-dried and seasoned in jerky style. The seasoning for this juicy reindeer jerky is the same base blend we use in our Beef Jerky Original – gluten-free soy sauce, black pepper, garlic, and syrup. And while our reindeer meat is well-seasoned and marinated, it still leaves room for the fantastic natural flavor of the reindeer to shine through. Reindeer meat has a slightly gamey taste, though its flavor stands apart from other types of game. The dried meat is dark, delicious-looking, and cut into convenient bite-sized pieces for easy snacking.
Our reindeer jerky is made entirely from Finnish reindeer meat – specifically reindeer roast. The roast contains a touch of fat, which makes the jerky juicier than it would be if the meat were completely lean. That said, this reindeer jerky isn’t particularly fatty. At least not compared to our Greasy Pork, made from pork neck.
Just like our other jerkies, the reindeer jerky has excellent shelf life and doesn’t need to be refrigerated – even after opening. The best-before date is about one year from when the meat is dried and packed here at our meat factory.
Tastes best straight from the bag – perfect for munching while trekking in the fells, hiking in the forest, or hammering away at your PlayStation on the couch. It also works great in cooking – add it to soups, stews, pasta, or even toss it on a pizza. And if you’re on the road, this jerky adds a nice protein boost and extra flavor to any ready-made meal. But its main role? A snack, just as it is.
